Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating activities for the Shipping Department and implementing procedures to improve inventory management, outbound shipment efficiencies, and adhering to safety and quality guidelines.

 

Supervisory This position has supervisory responsibilities.

 

Ownership

  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish department and company objectives.

  • Oversee the finished good storage and proper rotation of inventory.

  • Ensure orders are processed correctly within the WMS system.

  • Drive continuous improvement projects and processes by recommending measures to improve methods and safety standards.

  • Drive a high performance and accountability in stewardship, engagement and safety.

  • Assist in planning and executing department meetings with department personnel.

  • Communicate policies and procedures to employees and ensure enforcement is consistent.

  • Implement and track Key Performance Indicators and other performance metrics.

  • Identify and develop team member skills by coaching and providing continual feedback.

  • Coordinate with team to ensure trucks are loaded correctly, safely and on time.

  • Work with accounting to resolve any freight or customer payment discrepancies.

  • Work closely with safety and quality to ensure all procedures are followed.

  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and safely.

  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures to ensure quality of customer service, inventory accuracy, optimization of storage spacing, and on time delivery.

  • Upholds and manages team participation in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities.

  • This position has responsibilities related to Food Safety and Quality.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (B.A.) degree in Business Management, Transportation or Logistics; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a sufficient driving record to be covered under company insurance and be able to obtain approval through DOT physical if required.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Must have the ability to write reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and/or distance vision and depth perception.


While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
