Position Summary
The Production Shift Lead supports the Production TEAm by working closely with the Production Supervisor to manage workflow and resources for the team. Leads accountability for safety and quality guidelines of the production department.
Ownership
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills of all jobs within the Production Department.
- Work together with Team Lead counterpart to drive performance and motivate team.
- Responsible for monitoring and decision-making for schedule attainment.
- Coordinate break relief for team members and provide break relief when needed.
- Coordinate staffing requirements for each shift (PTO, call-ins, etc.)
- Ensure proper paperwork/charting is available for associates on shift.
- Ensure all materials required for production are available for use.
- Work with other team leads and departments to coordinate production plan.
- Lead shift handover meetings to communicate company announcement and shift goals.
- Complete shift reports and communicate wins and opportunities to relevant business partners.
- Coach and mentor production team members.
- Ensure required paperwork is completed for pre and post shift activities.
- Communicate plant downtime issues when they arise with maintenance or other relevant departments.
- Ensure team members follow GMP/QA, sanitation, and procedures.
- Monitor quality and food safety control points and make corrective actions.
- Upholds and participates in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities.
- This position has responsibilities related to Food Safety and Quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position has indirect supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Either a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and basic mathematical functions.
- Basic computer skills (email, Traksys, etc.).
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear.
- Required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel for 12hrs. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme cold.
- The noise level in the work environment includes manufacturing noise.
- Must have the ability to stay at a workstation for continuous hours.
